Tottenham transfer news: Conte gives verdict on Pedro Porro and Trossard as shock statement made

Your Tottenham transfer round-up on Saturday, January 14.

Conte weighs in

Antonio Conte remained coy on the deals Tottenham will complete this month in the transfer market when speaking ahead of the huge North London Derby against Arsenal on Sunday.

Spurs are keen to add a right wingback, centreback and midfielder before the window closes and have been linked most recently with moves for Sporting Lisbon's Pedro Porro and Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard.

He said: "About the transfer market you know me very well that I don't like to speak a lot. I think in this moment my focus is totally for the team because we have to face important games against Arsenal, then City, the Fulham game and then again the FA Cup.

"For this moment I am really focused on the pitch then about the transfer market, I am sure the club are trying to monitor the situation."

Trossard statement

After being dropped against Everton for the 4-1 win and then publicly called out by new manager Roberto De Zerbi ahead of their fixture against Liverpool.

The Belgian was banished from the side with De Zerbi saying, “Leandro Trossard isn't on the list for next game. The last session before last game, when he understood he wasn't playing, he left the session without telling me anything. I told him I don't like this attitude."

He added: "I don't know about the transfer market, if he wants to change teams or not. I am open with him to take a step back and listen to him but he has to understand with me, I want only players who work hard and play for the team 100%."

Trossard's agent has since made a statement on his behalf saying, "This did not happen, as the parties did not come to an agreement. Leandro has also indicated that he is ready for his next step [in his career]."

Midfield target

Tottenham have set their sights on Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Oscar Gloukh according to Portuguese outlet Record. The 18-year-old is an Israeli midfielder also attracting attention from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

It is said that nobody is yet willing to match the €7million (£6million) in his contract despite his impressive performances as an attacking midfielder.

This is exactly what Tottenham are looking for after targeting James Maddison and Nicolo Zaniolo over the summer.
