After demanding six new signings in the summer window, Antonio Conte is halfway to his target already after bringing Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma to Tottenham.
Forster arrived from Southampton at the expiry of his contract and Perisic also sealed a free transfer to reunite with his former Inter Milan manager, while Bissouma joined in £25million move from Brighton. But the fiery Spurs head coach is not finished yet – and a new name from his native Italy has appeared on the radar.
Nicolo Zaniolo is the player in question as Conte targets further recruitment in midfield. Elsewhere, Clement Lenglet could be a cut-price option to strengthen the defence, while Spurs are facing a potential delay as they aim to complete the signing of Djed Spence.
Here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding Tottenham.
Zaniolo in the frame
Tottenham are weighing up a move for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo. According to the London Evening Standard, Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is considering a £42 million proposal to bring 22-year-old Zaniolo to the Premier League.
Despite two major knee injuries interrupting his progress, Zaniolo made 38 appearances for Roma under Jose Mourinho's tutelage last season. With two years left on the player's contract, Roma are tempted to cash in while their rising star's value is high.
Lenglet loan option
Barcelona are prepared to loan French international Clement Lenglet to Tottenham to accelerate head coach Xavi's summer clear-out at the Nou Camp.
ESPN claim the Catalan giants have been in talks with Spurs 'for weeks' about a season-long loan for the 27-year-old centre back. Barcelona would prefer a permanent transfer to help them clear the decks, but Tottenham are more interested in a temporary solution – although they are prepared to contribute significantly to his wages.
The arrival of Chelsea's Andreas Christensen has shoved Lenglet down the pecking order in Catalonia, and he does not figure in Xavi's plans for the coming La Liga campaign.

Spence hold-up
Tottenham's move for Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence is currently deadlocked – with the clubs £5million apart on the price.
Boro want £15 million plus add-ons for the wing-back, who helped Nottingham Forest end 23 years out of the Premier League by winning promotion on loan at the City Ground last season. But Spurs have so far offered only £10m – and the Teessiders are playing hard-ball.
Despite the hold-up, Tottenham are still expected to tie up a deal for Spence before the season kicks off in August.
