Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
Transfer domino effect
Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi with a transfer domino effect in full effect.
Forest have been hyperactive in the transfer window so far this summer, making 17 signings. But Steve Cooper is keen to add further to his squad before deadline day this coming Thursday.
Left-back Omar Richards did arrive from Bayern Munich, but injury has prevented the 24-year-old from making his debut for the club. The Reds are therefore keen to add further to their squad depth in the full-back positions.

Forest target opens up on transfer
Neal Maupay has explained how signing for Everton was an "easy choice" after completing his move from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Maupay, 26, has joined the Toffees after spending the summer being linked with a transfer away from the Seagulls. Nottingham Forest were said to have the striker on their radar throughout the summer , with Fulham also reportedly keen.
However, Frank Lampard's side became frontrunners to sign the striker and completed the deal on Friday. Maupay's time at the AMEX Stadium came to an end after 109 appearances, in which he scored 27 goals.
Evangelos Marinakis point made
Owner Evangelos Marinakis' backing in the transfer market has come as little surprise to Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.
A summer rebuilding project was always going to be on the cards at the City Ground following promotion to the Premier League. And the Greek businessman has sanctioned a significant spending spree which is already well into nine figures, with 17 additions made so far - two of which have headed straight out on loan.
But cash has not just been splashed on the playing squad. Marinakis has also shown his commitment by spending millions around the City Ground redevelopment plans, and Forest are improving their training facilities, too.
Steve Cooper comment made
Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper could be the first Premier League manager to lose his job should there be a dip in form at the club, according to TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino.
Forest have been the busiest club in the transfer window, bringing in 17 new players as thy build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League. Cooper is also looking to add more faces before next week’s transfer deadline with Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi the latest to be linked.
The Reds have had a sound start to life back in the top flight after a 23-year hiatus. Cooper’s men have picked up four points from their opening three games, recording their first win two weeks ago against West Ham United.
