Tottenham transfer close to completion as Spurs 'table late offer' for Alvaro Morata

It has been a disappointing few days for Tottenham in this January's window, with moves for Luis Diaz, Adama Traore and Dusan Vlahovic looking to have been unsuccessful.

Vlahovic has been unveiled at Juventus while it is being reported that Traore is set to sign for his former club Barcelona, leaving Spurs back at square one with three days left in the current window.

Moves for a right-wing back, central midfielder and a striker are all believed to be priorities for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici as they look to continue their push for a top four place and mount an FA Cup run.

Moves into the club would be dependant on the sale of some big names, thought to include Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele, Matt Doherty and Giovanni Lo Celso - here's a round-up of the latest rumours.

Who:

Tanguy Ndombele

What:

Talk of a move for Ndombele to one of Europe's elite clubs has been rife in this transfer window, with PSG and Barcelona chief among them.

However, it looks as though the Parisians have beaten the Catalans to the signing of the French international, with a loan move close, according to Sky Sports.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is the man who took Ndombele to North London in 2019 and a move to link up with the Argentine is said to be more appealing than other proposed moves to Valencia and Everton.

The 25-year-old has thee and a half years left on his current deal in North London, having signed in a deal worth up to £63million at the start of the 2019-20 season.

Who:

Alvaro Morata

Where:

El Partizado de Cope

What:

A striker to act as back-up to Harry Kane has been a problematic issue for Spurs ever since the England star's emergence as his club's main goalscorer.

With a move for Vlahovic failing, Spurs will now be looking at alternative options and Alvaro Morata could be just the man to give Spurs Champions League-level support to Kane.

Morata could find himself out of Massimilliano Allegri's plans in Turin, with Vlahovic adding a different dimension to a forward line that also includes Paulo Dybala.

Barcelona are thought to be the favourites to sign Morata with their need for extra firepower evident, but Spurs would offer the Spanish international a chance to play under Conte once again following their brief season together at Chelsea in 2017/18.
