Tottenham to meet Sporting Lisbon over £40m wing-back as Danny Ings given options

Tottenham are set to meet with Sporting Lisbon this week to see if a deal can be thrashed out for wing-back Pedro Porro.

The 23-year-old has agreed to the move and now all that remains is for the two clubs to see if an agreement over a fee can be reached. Sporting want £40million plus performance-related add-ons, while Spurs are looking to do business at a much lower mark.

They are understood to be considering sending a player on loan to the Portuguese club as part of any deal, with a cash offer of around £27m. Porro joined Sporting from Manchester City in a £7.2m deal last summer after two successful seasons on loan.

Spurs are also looking at a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie. The 21-year-old left-sided centre-back, who has also interested Chelsea, impressed with Ecuador at the World Cup.

Should Spurs decide to press ahead with any move, they would then look to loan him immediately back to Leverkusen this month. Napoli and Inter Milan are also vying for the player’s signature but would prefer to wait until the summer to sign him if they can.

Wolves and Everton ready to pounce for Danny Ings

Wolves are ready to rival Everton for Danny Ings — if Aston Villa are willing to let the striker go.

Everton have had a loan enquiry rebuffed by Villa, with boss Unai Emery open only to him leaving on a permanent deal. That means the two clubs must decide whether or not to make firm offers for the 30-year-old, who has started just one of his side’s seven Premier League games under their new boss.

Emery wanted to land a new striker himself even before Ollie Watkins picked up an injury on Friday. If he can, then Ings could be allowed out, although the severity of Watkins’ injury will also now be a factor.

Wolves are also in the market for attacking reinforcements as their new boss Julen Lopetegui looks for players who will boost their fight for survival. They came into this weekend as the league’s lowest scorers and Lopetegui knows that has to change if they are to stay up.

Matheus Cunha has already been brought in on loan from Atletico Madrid, but the club would like to bring in another forward to replace Raul Jimenez. Jimenez has struggled for form and fitness at Wolves this season and Julen Lopetegui is open to letting the Mexican leave Molineux.

Everton, meanwhile, will be frustrated in any attempts to turn Conor Coady ’s loan from Wolves into a permanent move this month to free up space for another loanee.

Premier League rules state that clubs can only register two on-loan players at any one time. But Everton cannot make Coady’s deal permanent before July 1.
