Tottenham star snubbed again as Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for PFA award

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been nominated for the 2022 PFA Players' Player of the Year award after a fantastic end to the season. However, teammate Son Heung-min has missed out on the shortlist, despite his own impressive individual season.

The striking duo were critical parts of Spurs' resurgence under Antonio Conte, who guided the club back into the top four late in the campaign. The Italian managed to overcome North London rivals Arsenal to book a place in next season's Champions League, giving a huge boost to his task at the club.

Discussing the challenges in his time with the Lilywhites, Conte said: "It's very very difficult - to reach a place in Champions League I have to consider this a really big big achievement for me and for my players, and also for the club consider this a big achievement after three years Tottenham is able to play again in Champions League. For us it's very important because the best players, the best coaches want to play in this competition, for this trophy. We must be pleased for what we did."

While the main story on the final day surrounded Tottenham guaranteeing fourth in the league at Norwich, a sub-plot was also at play. Son was still in the hunt for the Golden Boot, needing to better Mohamed Salah's scoring on the day by one goal to take home the achievement.

The 29-year-old scored twice in five minutes at Carrow Road, while his Egyptian rival bagged one of his own against Wolves, meaning they shared the award with 23 goals in the Premier League. Despite his fantastic individual season, the forward has been continually snubbed in votes for other awards.

This is something that has continued, with the PFA Players' Player of the Year not featuring the South Korean in the list. Meanwhile teammate Kane is on there, alongside: Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin de Bruyne.

It has left many questioning how Son hasn't managed to make the shortlist following his records in the previous campaign.
