Tottenham striker Richarlison is reportedly under investigation by the RSPCA after his neighbours made complaints about his dogs.
Richarlison lives in an impressive £4million mansion in north London with a Siberian husky called Acerola and a chocolate Labrador called Layla. He has posted pictures of his beloved pets on social media, but while they might look cute to his followers, they are causing problems for his neighbours, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reports that his dogs are regularly winding up the nearby residents with their constant barking and howling. They have also escaped from Richarlison’s property into the surrounding area, requiring a rescue mission from a busy A-road on one occasion.
“They are very loud. They run around the area,” a neighbour told The Sun. “The RSPCA were called because of the crying husky.”
Another added: “We reported him to the RSPCA as his dogs have been howling. It’s not nice to hear. They constantly bark. There’s no let-up.”
An RSPCA spokesperson told Mirror Football: “Unfortunately we are unable to discuss complaints about specific people and what action may have been taken."
"We are liaising with the player and his representatives,” a Tottenham spokesperson told The Sun.
This is not the first time that Acerola has got Richarlison into trouble, with the husky previously escaping from his home on Merseyside, while he was still playing for Everton in 2019. Richarlison posted an appeal on Twitter to try and find Acerola after the dog fled from his home in the Crosby area of Liverpool.
After his pet was found safe and sound, he tweeted: “Hi every one I am pleased someone found Acerola and took to a vet, finally he is ok. I would like to thanks to every body whom try to help me and support me.”
Richarlison set up an Instagram account for Acerola in November 2019, having got the Siberian husky the previous year. The biography on the account reads: “I love playing with my toys, with my daddy and running in the street.”
The chocolate Labrador puppy, Layla, was added to the family in March 2020, with a post announcing: “Everyday our family grows!! My little sister Layla.”
The Instagram account posted regular updates during the Coronavirus lockdown, when Richarlison and his family were stuck at home. They moved house, from Merseyside to north London, last summer after Tottenham paid £60m for Richarlison in July.
Richarlison has made 27 appearances for Tottenham so far this season, contributing two goals and four assists. The 25-year-old striker is yet to score in the Premier League for Spurs, who recently sacked Antonio Conte and are fifth in the table, three points behind Manchester United.
