Tottenham star compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by former Manchester United midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by former Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson.

Son has played a key part in his club's surge towards the Champions League places this season. The 29-year-old has made 38 appearances, scoring 18 goals and making eight assists.

Ronaldo, United's leading goalscorer, has also scored 18 goals but in four fewer matches. Speaking to the Vibe with Five podcast, Richardson claimed there were similarities between the South Korean and the Portuguese great.

He explained: "I love him (Son). I would love him at Man United. He’s too good for Tottenham.

"Proper. He is ruthless in front of goal. You know who Son reminds me of? Cristiano, like back in the day. When he goes through on goal, you know it’s a goal.

"Bang. The way he runs, the speed, it’s phenomenal."

Son's hat-trick against Aston Villa on Saturday had a direct negative impact on United. Their victory, coupled with United's defeat at Everton, meant that Ralf Rangnick's side are now six points behind Spurs in the fourth and final Champions League spot.
