Tottenham set to beat Man United to signing of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes for club-record fee

Tottenham Hotspur have reached a significant agreement with West Ham United to sign midfielder Mateus Fernandes, fending off competition from Manchester United.

The north London club identified the Portugal international as a pivotal figure in the extensive rebuild underway under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who successfully steered the club to Premier League safety last month at West Ham’s expense.
