Tottenham set Richarlison transfer stance for remainder of summer window

Target: Richarlison - (PA)

Tottenham will demand a sizeable fee if they are to sell Richarlison before the close of the summer transfer window.

There had been concerns that Spurs could lose the Brazilian striker, who is attracting interest from Everton, on the cheap with a year remaining on his current contract.

But Standard Sport understands that Spurs retain the option to extend Richarlison’s contract by an extra 12 months, meaning they will not be forced into a cut-price sale.

Spurs signed Richarlison from Everton in a deal worth around £60million in 2022.

Richarlison finished last season as Spurs’ top goalscorer in all competitions, netting 11 times in the Premier League as the north London club narrowly avoided relegation.

Despite playing a pivotal role in Spurs keeping their Premier League status, the 29-year-old continues to be linked with a move away. A return to his homeland, or former club Everton, have been mooted.

Roberto De Zerbi views Richarlison, who scored the opening goal during Spurs’ 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim last weekend, as an “important player” but admitted earlier this month that he did not know whether he wanted to stay.

"I don't know because I like him as a player and as a guy," De Zerbi said after Spurs’ 2-1 friendly win over Chelsea in Sydney.

“He's unbelievable in terms of attitude and behaviour. But, in the end, we have to respect what he wants to do."

The Spurs boss added that Richarlison’s own indecision over his future had complicated the matter but the situation had not created a problem regarding his committment.

He added: “Sometimes he says he wants to stay, sometimes he wants to leave. We have to speak anyway. There is not any problem. He's a lovely guy."
