Tottenham are certainly limited in terms of wing-backs on either flank at present, with injuries hitting Cristian Stellini's side hard. Once Spurs have everyone fit and three of their players have returned from their loan spells elsewhere, the Lilywhites do have some very exciting options to choose from.
A huge summer for the club with the squad requiring a much-needed refresh, we could well see a bit of movement in the position ahead of next season with the new head coach getting his plans in place for August. So who could stay and who could go? football.london takes a look at all seven players below.
Emerson Royal
Enduring a difficult first season in north London, Emerson has been one of Tottenham's better performers in 2023 after finding his form at right wing-back. Always going to take time for the Brazilian to adapt to the position given he has operated as a right-back throughout his career, the 4-2 defeat at Man City was a big turning point for him as he scored in the loss and he went from strength to strength in the following games against Fulham, City and West Ham.

Now having Pedro Porro to contend with for the position on the right following the Spaniard's January move from Sporting CP, Emerson will be out to make the position his own next season, If the new man at the helm comes in and switches to a back four, that could suit Emerson down to the ground due to his previous experience in the role.
Verdict: Keep
Ivan Perisic
Joining on a free transfer from Inter Milan last summer, Perisic has endured a difficult first year in north London and struggled to find his top form for Tottenham. The 34-year-old has still managed to chip in with 11 assists but many were probably expecting more in terms of his performances and goal output due to the numbers he regularly posted in his time in Italy and Germany.
Always going to be a tough ask for the experienced player to get to grips with the pace and intensity of the Premier League, Spurs have a decision to make over the Croat going into next season. Destiny Udogie's return from his season on loan with Udinese could knock the player down the pecking order and, given his age and contract, the club may elect to look towards the future instead.
Verdict: Sell
Ryan Sessegnon
Injuries have once again hampered Sessegnon throughout the season, with the player not featuring for Tottenham since February due to another hamstring issue. When fit, the ex-Fulham man did get a decent amount of football under his belt for Antonio Conte, starting 14 of his 23 appearances in all competitions.
This summer will mark four years since his move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the club have still yet to get the best out of him with injuries severely restricting his playing time. Sessegnon may have to contend with a bit-part role if he is to remain in north London this summer, with his homegrown status maybe a key factor as it does help Spurs out when it comes to naming their 25-man squad.
Verdict: Keep
Pedro Porro
Showing glimpses of his quality following his January move from Sporting CP, Tottenham fans will be hoping to see the very best of Porro in 2023/24. He is going to be some weapon for the Lilywhites if he can replicate the numbers he regularly posted in Portugal.
Verdict: Keep
Djed Spence
Having to bide his time on the sidelines during the first part of the campaign despite the struggles of others, Spence is currently finishing the campaign in France with Rennes. Tottenham fans are desperate to see more of him and hopefully that will be the case next term as he wasn't given a fair shot under Conte.
Spence will be determined to impress the new man at the helm this summer and get his Tottenham career up and running. If he is to be behind Emerson and Porro in the pecking order, though, another loan move could come to fruition just so he can get the minutes under his belt he requires.
Verdict: Loan move if third in the pecking order
Sergio Reguilon
Out of favour under Conte and given the green light to move on, Reguilon has endured a nightmare season through injury after returning to Spain with Atletico Madrid. Only making five appearances in total for Diego Simeone's side, the 2023/24 campaign really is huge for the left-back as he looks to get his career back on track.
As he will soon enter the final two years of his Tottenham contract, this may be the summer to move him on unless the new head coach sees him as the club's left-back going forward.
Verdict: Sell
Destiny Udogie
Signed from Udinese last summer but remaining with the Italian club for the duration of the campaign, Tottenham fans cannot wait to see Udogie in action due to his attacking displays. He has all the qualities to be a big hit in north London over the coming years.
Verdict: Keep
