Sporting manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed the departure of Pedro Porro to Tottenham after a U-turn that has seen the Spaniard's move to London shut down, re-opened and finally completed in the space of 36 hours.
Porro was Spurs' first-choice target heading into deadline day having reignited talks once more following the moving of the goalposts for a deal on Monday. Sporting need the deal to be a loan initially to fit with their financial obligations, though Spurs will make it permanent further down the line.
Now, with Porro expected to be announced before the 11pm deadline, Amorim has all but done his own bit. Speaking ahead of Sporting's match against Braga, he said: "In relation to Porro, it's more than what happened with Nuno Mendes, with Matheus [Nunes].

"More than the professional relationship, and of course they are missed, the personal relationship is something we are very sorry about. Our relationship is very close, he will be missed.
"In football we get used to change from a very young age. One day they are our children, our best friends, and now he is Conte's son. If we play against him, I already know his difficulties. We remain friends, I move on, now my favorites are others. My players are always the best in the world.
"Porro will be a player for another team and I wish them the best of luck. Bellerín has not yet been introduced. A player with Porro's characteristics cannot be arranged, and that's why they beat his clause. Looking at a player who is a right back and has so many goals and assists...We have to try to build another one, that's what we're going to do."
