Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: Djed Spence and Forster impress for woeful Spurs

Fraser Forster

Making his Tottenham debut, he didn't seem to realise an early blocked Sanchez clearance was going to hit the right-hand post but he made up for it with a save from Lingard's follow-up header. Saved from Worrall from point blank range 23 minutes in. Pushed away a powerful Lingard effort just after the break. Couldn't do much about Lodi's curling effort soon after but made a big save from Surridge in a one vs one situation moments later and then again from Johnson. Spurs' player of the match by a long, long way. 8

Davinson Sanchez

Not a convincing performance from the Colombian, in keeping with recent shaky displays. 4

Eric Dier

Continued his recent vein of sub-par displays with another showing that was not commanding in the slightest. 5

Clement Lenglet

Normally composed, even the Frenchman looked jittery in possession at times. 5

Matt Doherty

Sent a well-executed half-volley towards goal that Hennessey saved well in the first half. Didn't offer much other than that. 3

Oliver Skipp

Seems to have added a touch of pace to his game, but he doesn't look as effective in the more advanced role rather than the anchorman one. 5

Yves Bissouma

After a promising display against Liverpool, the Mali international offered little in this encounter, especially going forward. 5

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Played the first half before being replaced by Bentancur at the break. Tried to make things happen for Spurs, with one good through ball to Perisic, but it wasn't enough in midfield that had too similar styles among the three players. Tottenham went to pieces after he went off in terms of their shape. 6

Ryan Sessegnon

A poor display, looked shaky on the ball and offered little going forward and had to play on with an injury after Spurs used their final sub without noticing he was signalling to the bench. Gets an extra point simply for putting himself through more of that game. Had such a painful looking walk across the pitch after the final whistle. 3

Harry Kane

Barely touched the ball before coming off after 59 minutes. 4

Ivan Perisic

Did little of note other than slung in a couple of set pieces. 4

Subs

Rodrigo Bentancur

Came on at the break but wasn't able to change things at all. 5

Richarlison

Plenty of effort and had the ball in the net, only to be flagged offside. 6

Dejan Kulusevski

Offered some attacking threat but not enough to find a breakthrough. 5

Bryan Gil

Buzzed around but with little effect. 4

Djed Spence

The brightest of Spurs subs, trying to take the game to Forest with a few surging runs up the pitch and one header that forced Hennessy into a flying save. 7
