Tottenham player ratings vs Everton: Romero on top but Son, Porro, Hojbjerg and Perisic struggle

Hugo Lloris

After some shaky kicks and a couple of pushed away crosses his first real test came when he saved Onana's shot from outside the box. He saved well from Gueye in the second half. Couldn't do anything about Keane's rocket from distance. 5

Cristian Romero

Spurs' best player on the night. He always looked in control apart from the odd occasion when he went off on the hunt for someone to tackle. He was brought down in the Everton box to win the penalty that Kane netted from. 7

Eric Dier

A battling first half but presented Everton with the ball early in the second period after get caught in possession. Was fortunate Gueye fired his shot over. 5

Clement Lenglet

Showed the required fight in the first half but got muscled off the ball more as the game wore on and came off for Sanchez in the second half. 5

Pedro Porro

Other than one early low cross that was cut out he spent much of his night defending at the other end and struggling. 4

Oliver Skipp

Some sloppy moments on the ball despite working hard. One of his less convincing displays. 5

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

With Spurs playing it short out from the back it often came to the Dane and he rushed his passing on a number of occasions. Struggled to make much of an impact on the game and his rushed passing looked to be frustrating the coaching staff. 4

Ivan Perisic

Curled in a couple of dangerous early crosses into the Everton six yard box but lost much of his impact from then on. 4

Dejan Kulusevski

Spurs' main creative threat in the first half but he is still lacking the quality with the final ball and is still struggling to reach the levels of last season. 5

Harry Kane

A busy start to the match with his shot cleared off the line by Keane and then he sent a header wide from Perisic's cross. Was unable to make his mark after that until Doucoure struck him in the face and the Everton man was sent off. Not long after he took his penalty well amid the noise of the crowd and the home players trying to put him off, firing it into the bottom left corner. Gets an extra point for that spot kick. 6

Son Heung-min

Another tough night for the South Korean. It's difficult to remember anything of note he contributed to proceedings. 4

Subs

Davinson Sanchez

Replaced Lenglet late in the game but couldn't help preserve the clean sheet. 5

Lucas Moura

Came on and promptly got sent off with a lunging, unnecessary tackle on Keane's ankle. Gets a point for coming on to the pitch. 1
