Tottenham player ratings: Cristian Romero stands up but Kane, Son and Kulusevski so quiet again

Hugo Lloris

Nothing to do in the first half, although he did take a kick to his knee after Toney headed against the crossbar. Early in the second half he ran out a long, long way to just about stop a Brentford break. Some of his kicking was very nervy but he did deny Eriksen after Kane cleared off the line. 6

Cristian Romero

Made plenty of good interceptions and tackles and was by far Spurs' best player on the day. 8

Eric Dier

Plenty of loose passing from the back, often without any real pressure on him. Another off-key performance from the centre-back. 5

Ben Davies

Didn't too much wrong in central defence and then shifted out to left wing-back when Sessegnon came off but couldn't provide the quality into the Brentford box either. 6

Emerson Royal

Another now trademark game for the Brazilian. Solid enough in his defensive work but offered very little going forward other than one ball across the box to set up Kane for a half-chance. 4

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Plenty of bluster but little in the way of progressing the ball quickly to the more creative players. 5

Rodrigo Bentancur

Some nice touches but nothing to leave his mark on the game. He's dipped a bit in the last few games along with the team, struggling to move the ball around the pitch in crowded midfields. 5

Ryan Sessegnon

Very nervy start. Made an important interception in his own box just after the half hour mark, but he lacked the quality going forward and was very predictable in his play. 4

Dejan Kulusevski

Another anonymous match, barely causing a problem for Brentford. 4

Harry Kane

Struggled to get into the game in the first half, but made a crucial header on his own goal line to stop Jansson's header from crossing it. Tried to create some openings for himself and sent an acrobatic kick just past the right-hand post late on. 5

Son Heung-min

A few runs at the Brentford box but nothing of real note in another quiet performance. 4

Subs

Davinson Sanchez

Replaced Sessegnon and slipped into the back three without much fuss. 5

Lucas Moura

Came on late on and went on one good run that brought a foul just as he was running dangerously into the box. N/A
