Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly 'on the cusp' of reaching an agreement with Middlesbrough to sign former Nottingham Forest loanee Djed Spence.
The 21-year-old was linked with returning to the City Ground in the early stages of the summer transfer window, but Premier League rivals Spurs have more recently become front runners to end the year-long saga about Spence's future.
Forest have already moved to bolster the right-back area in recent weeks with the signings of Giulian Biancone and Neco Williams. The former has featured on the right-side of defence to start each of the Reds' first two pre-season friendlies of the summer.

The Athletic are reporting that a 'total agreement' with the Championship club is on the verge of happening. A breakthrough in negotiations between the club's chairmen Daniel Levy and Steve Gibson plus the player's representative Scott Smith is said to have been produced. The transfer is on the cusp of being completed to such a degree that a medical is expected to be undertaken within the next 48 hours.
A fully-fledged England under-21 international, Spence is set to step up to the top-flight and return to the capital in the process. The London-native previously came through the academy system at Fulham before making a move to Boro before last season's loan from Teesside to the East Midlands.
Should all go to plan and a medical be completed, then Spence is set to be returning to the City Ground sooner rather than later. Forest's second home match of the season sees Antonio Conte's Tottenham side travel Trentside.
