Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Thursday, August 18.
Transfer boost
According to The Daily Mail, Spurs are 'close' to beating the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Ashley Phillips this summer. The England U17 international has attracted plenty of attention from the Premier League in recent times and Tottenham Director of Football Fabio Paratici was expected to attend Blackburn’s game against Reading last night, ahead of a final decision.
Phillips has been capped by England's under-17 international five times, with his contract at Ewood Park set to expire next summer, although the player himself is reportedly keen to remain at Ewood Park, for now at least.

Romero admission
Cristiano Romero has opened up about the difficulties of adapting to the Premier League since joining the Lilywhites last summer.
“The English league is the best in the world. Adapting is not easy, it was hard for me, but I already feel good and trying to maintain my level," Romero said in an interview with radio station Como Te Va, via Infobae.
“I live training sessions and matches in the same way. I like to play and train hard. The games and the experience have allowed me to know how to play when I have a yellow card. Last season I only had eight [Premier League] yellow cards and they didn't send me off."
