Tottenham news: Spurs sent Bryan Gil message as Paulo Dybala makes decision

Tottenham Hotspur have been sent a stern message over Bryan Gil's future by the Spain U2 manager Luis De la Fuente.

Gil struggled to make an impact in north London following his arrival from Sevilla for a hefty £21.6million last summer and was shipped out on loan to Spanish side Valencia in January. And the move appears to have worked out for him, if his U21 international manager's comments are anything to go by.

It comes as the inside story of Paulo Dybala's contract U-turn at Italian giants Juventus has been revealed. And Mirror Football has taken a look back at the time Robbie Keane and his LA Galaxy teammates were invited to the White House back in 2012 where the ex-Spurs forward learnt he might be related to then-president Barack Obama.

Have your say! Will Spurs be able to sign Paulo Dybala this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments below...

Keane's response to Obama claim

Robbie Keane was taken completely by surprise when he learned in 2012 that he could be related to former US President Barack Obama.

The shock claim was made when Keane and his LA Galaxy teammates visited the White House after winning the MLS. At the time, Obama said: "Congratulations to the LA Galaxy on your third MLS Cup. Together they represent one of the most talented line-ups the MLS has ever seen.

"You've got Robbie Keane, all-time leading goalscorer of the Irish national team, cousin of mine." Keane was in fact so taken aback by the claim, that he only responded years later during an episode of Goals on Sunday – and his response was typically hilarious.

The north London club have come close to sealing the Argentinian's signature once before, of course, having had a £64.4m deal previously agreed before disagreements regarding Dybala’s image rights halted discussions. They could return to try and bring in the forward this summer, though, after a similar U-turn ended up with the striker making the decision to leave Juve this summer.

Spurs sent Gil message

Spain international U21 manager Luis De la Fuente has sent Spurs a message over forgotten signing Bryan Gil – and it should get Tottenham fans very excited.

The young Spanish winger arrived at the club last summer as an exciting prospect but struggled to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League. But after being shipped out on loan to Valencia in January, the youngster appears to have rediscovered his spark and has now been called up to the Spain U21 team.

And his manager for the next couple of weeks, De la Fuente, believes there is much more to come from Gil, who he says "hasn’t reached his ceiling yet".
