Tottenham news: Manor Solomon signing confirmed as Liverpool make Micky van de Ven transfer call

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Wednesday, July 12.

Tottenham in Micky van de Ven transfer update as Liverpool decision made

Liverpool have reportedly backed out of the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Micky van de Ven.

The Wolfsburg defender has won admirers throughout Europe for his impressive displays in the Bundesliga, notably receiving plaudits for his electric pace. It has been somewhat of a meteoric rise for the young centre-back, who is fresh from his breakthrough season in Germany, having begun his career with second tier Dutch side Volendam.

Van de Ven, who captained Netherlands under-21s at the recent European Championship, is claimed to have sparked a transfer battle between Spurs and Liverpool this summer. However, reports in Germany have suggested that the Reds are no longer planning to pursue a move for the 22-year-old.

A report from German outlet Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, via Liverpool ECHO , has stated that Liverpool have reached a ‘conclusion’ to scrap their plans to sign van de Ven. It is claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and new director of football Jorg Schmadtke held a ‘consultation’ that resulted in the club ‘cooling’ their interest in the Dutch centre-back.

Manor Solomon's first words as a Tottenham player after transfer confirmed

Manor Solomon has shared his first message as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The winger has become the club’s fifth signing of the summer, following his free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk. Solomon captured the attention of English football fans during his loan spell with Fulham last season, where he scored in five consecutive games across all competitions.

Spurs were able to snap up Solomon for free due to a FIFA ruling that allows all non-Ukrainian players to suspend their contracts due to the ongoing conflict in the country. With his move to Spurs confirmed, Solomon delivered a message to supporters on social media.

Writing on Twitter, Solomon said: “I’m so delighted and excited to be joining this fantastic football club. It's truly an honour to be here and I can't wait to get started. To dare is to do!”

Tottenham face £33.5m transfer loss as four teams ready to end Davinson Sanchez Spurs nightmare

Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is reportedly part of a four-way transfer battle.

Sanchez arrived as the club’s record signing, back in 2017, but has seen his first team opportunities diminish over time, making just eight Premier League starts last term. The Colombian defender has entered the final year of his Spurs contract and could be heading for the exit door this summer.

New boss Ange Postecoglou was open about “seeking change” to the squad during his opening press conference on Monday as he looks to rebuild the team. Sanchez has seemingly been open to leaving Spurs in past transfer windows and reports in the Netherlands have claimed that PSV Eindhoven are among those in the hunt for his signature.

Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, via Sport Witness, has stated that Sanchez has been told ‘he can leave’ in the coming months. The report claims that PSV will require a ‘small miracle’ to get a deal over the line due to Sanchez’s wage demands but the club does offer the centre-back a chance to reunite with his former Ajax manager Peter Bosz.
