Tottenham news: Jurgen Klopp sends Liverpool warning to Spurs as Joao Palhinha interest revealed

Here is your Spurs digest on Thursday, May 5.

Spurs 'set to move' for Palhinha

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha. Spurs have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old for over a year and could move for him this summer.

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his squad and midfield is believed to be an area in which the Italian would like more options. According to Portuguese outlet Jornal de Notcias Spurs will lodge a bid for Palhinha ‘within the month’.

The Portugal international has also been linked with moves to Manchester United and Wolves. It’s believed that Sporting want around €40million (£33m) for his services.

Klopp's warning to Spurs

Liverpool went into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Villarreal with a two goal lead. Within the first 45 minutes, Unai Emery's side had got two goals back and it was 2-2 with one half of football left to play.

However, it took Jurgen Klopp's side just 17 minutes to get their first goal of the game and then less than 15 minutes later they were 3-2 up on the night and 5-2 up over the two legs. The win takes Liverpool to the final of the European competition, where they will face Man City or Real Madrid.

It was Liverpool who ended Tottenham's Champions League dreams in 2019 and Antonio Conte's side is who they will face up next in the Premier League. Spurs' last victory against their next opponents was in 2017, but the last time the Lilywhites won at Anfield was in 2011.

Spurs announce Son inspired partnership

Tottenham have announced a new partnership with the Korea Tourism Organisation as they look to work with the country ahead of their summer tour.

Spurs are set to play two matches in July in the Republic of Korea in the Coupang Play Series. The first match is against Team K League – a selection of the best players from Korea's professional league – at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on July 13. The second match is set to take place the following weekend and is expected to be against a soon to be announced European side.

The tour - Spurs' first in three years due to the pandemic - will see Son Heung-min return with the club to his homeland where the north London outfit are currently the most watched and best-supported overseas football team in South Korea, with Son and Tottenham Hotspur women's star So-hyun Cho, the country's men’s and women’s national team captains respectively.
