Tottenham news: James Maddison alternative revealed amid Liverpool points deduction claim

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Tuesday, May 2.

Spurs keen on Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham now interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Leicester City star James Maddison is the priority target for the creative playmaker role but if he is unable to be signed, Gibbs-White is seen as a potential option for the Lilywhites. His teammate Dean Henderson, as well as Brighton shot-stopper David Raya are also said to be targets for Spurs as they look to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer.

Wolves centre-back Max Kilman was also named as a potential option for a defensive signing.

James Maddison twist

According to The Telegraph, even if Leicester City boss Dean Smith keeps the Foxes in the Premier League this season, star player James Maddison will still leave in the summer.

Their report adds that a fee between £45 million and £60 million, with just over a year left on his current contract, will be enough to sanction a departure. Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the England international in the past.

"Start giving them points deductions and watch them shut up and behave. We believe that will be one of the silver bullets right across football to address right up from grassroots to the Premier League.

"There have been touchline bans for decades, but it's not getting better, it's getting worse."
