Bale announcement
Gareth Bale has turned down a chance to join Wrexham after the former Tottenham and Real Madrid man raised eyebrows when entering into a comedic exchange on social media with the club's Hollywood owners.
After the National League side secured promotion to League Two for next season, Bale was on hand to offer the Red Dragons congratulations after a historic season but it ended with offers from Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds for a retirement U-turn. Bale called time on his playing days in January following the World Cup.
Any hope of seeing the five-time Champions League winner running down the wing once more have been dealt an abrupt blow, though. Despite teasing fans on social media with talk of playing golf in Wales and coming back for 'one last magical season' it has been put to bed.

Kane meeting
Harry Kane has claimed that it was important for Daniel Levy to know where the players' heads were at following their 6-1 humbling at Newcastle United. In a poor run of form prior to their trip to St James' Park after falling out of the top four, Spurs were put to the sword by their European rivals and found themselves 5-0 down after 21 minutes.
"The chairman asked for a meeting," said the 29-year-old striker. "Obviously I won't go into what was said but I think it was important [for him] to understand where the players' heads were at at that moment.
"Obviously coming off the back of that result. And it wasn't just that result. It had been building up since the international break when we conceded the two goals against Southampton."

Richarlison verdict
Ryan Mason is hopeful that Richarlison can finally score his first goal of the Premier League season. Speaking ahead of Tottenham's clash against Liverpool, the interim Spurs boss said: "He's that type of player that causes a lot of trouble.
"Once he scores that goal and gets that confidence then we might see a different type of player. We've got a squad of players that we need to decide the best team to win a game of football.
"We felt last night [in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United] Richy, the profile of player he is, could help us and we spoke before about having a bit of anger and showing a reaction. I think Richy naturally is that type of player as he likes having a bit of physical contact and I was very pleased with his performance."
