Tottenham news: Conte makes Yves Bissouma decision as Champions League squad confusion emerges

Your Tottenham morning digest on Monday, September 5.

Conte's Bissouma decision highlights importance of one Spurs player

There were a lot of positives to take from Tottenham's 2-1 victory against Fulham, with some solid individual performances and a cohesive team display. The win means Antonio Conte's side are still unbeaten this season and sit level on points with Man City in third place.

The Italian made five changes to the team that drew to West Ham during the week, handing Richarlison his first start and Clement Lenglet his Premier League debut. Spurs had 23 shots with 10 on target in N17, and dominated large spells of the game.

The likes of Harry Kane and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg will be talked about because of their impacts with goals. Richarlison and Lenglet will be praised for their performances as new arrivals.

However, one player who may not get as much recognition as he deserves is Rodrigo Bentancur. The Uruguayan made the move to north London in January from Juventus along with Dejan Kulusevski.

Champions League squad announcement raises key question

Antonio Conte's Tottenham squad for their upcoming Champions League matches has been revealed. Spurs played just once a week, in the first few weeks of the season.

Their first mid-week game came against West Ham last week, with their trip to the London Stadium ending in a draw. Now the Lilywhites have won four and drawn two of their opening six fixtures, currently being level on points with Man City.

Now the fixture schedule gets even busier, with their return to Champions League football. Tottenham's group includes Marseille, Sporting CP and Frankfurt, with their first match being against the former.

The French side are also unbeaten in their first six matches in Ligue 1, winning five and drawing one. Therefore it is likely to be a tough battle between the two sides, who will both want to get their European campaign off to a good start.

Hasselbaink makes Spurs season prediction

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Tottenham won't finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, despite their unbeaten start to the campaign.

The Lilywhites finished fourth last season, but the former Chelsea striker believes they will miss out on Champions League football this time around. Perhaps surprisingly, the Burton Albion boss believes Manchester United will pip Spurs to a top four spot.

“I think Chelsea will get in the top four, with Man United, [Manchester] City and Liverpool," Hasselbaink said on Super Sunday.

Gary Neville replied: "Tottenham don't?"

"Tottenham don't," answered Hasselbaink.
