Tottenham Hotspur hope to sign Lille centre-back Sven Botman this summer to appease manager Antonio Conte, according to reports.
The Italian has found life in north London difficult since taking charge in November and recently appeared to criticise the club's business during the January transfer window as he claimed his squad had been "weakened".
But it has been claimed that in order to prove they are ready to back Conte in the transfer market, Spurs hope to bring in the left-footed, left-sided centre-half he has been demanding.
It comes following reports Arsenal are set to rival Spurs for the signing of River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
And Conte is facing a continued battle at the club after his work on the training ground proved successful in the win over Leeds United on Saturday.
Here are the latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.
Have your say! Will Antonio Conte still be in charge of Spurs next season? Let us know what you think in the comments below...
Conte's continued battle
A battle of the wing-backs is underway at Tottenham Hotspur as Antonio Conte continues to make his mark on the club.
The Italian coach's favoured 3-4-3 formation has a heavy reliance on the wing-back position, as also demonstrated from his time at Premier League rivals Chelsea, Football.London reports.
The normally favoured duo of Sergio Reguillon and Emerson Royal were left out against Leeds United as Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty started.
And the switch paid off brilliantly as the pair linked up for Spurs' first goal – and means the starting berths on both flanks are now well and truly up for grabs.
Arsenal's rival bid
Bitter rivals Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head with Spurs for the signing of River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez, it has been claimed.
Football.London reports that Spurs have been tracking the young midfielder, who has become a mainstay in the middle of the park for River Plate in the last year, making 28 appearances for Marcelo Gallardo’s side.
But it is also claimed that Arsenal could look to land his signature, if Granit Xhaka finally gets granted his move to Jose Mourinho's AS Roma this summer.
Botman eyed
Spurs will make efforts to land the signature of south-after Lille centre-back Sven Botman to keep Antonio Conte happy, it is reported.
Conte is reportedly keen to bring in a left-footed, left-sided centre-half and is said to view Botman as the perfect addition to his squad, according to the Daily Star.
Daniel Levy is now said to be ready to strike a £30million deal with the French outfit to land the defender's signature ahead of the likes of Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Serie A side AC Milan.
But whether their efforts are successful may hinge on Antonio Conte's men sealing Champions League qualification, the report adds.
