Tottenham news: Antonio Rudiger transfer decision made as Lucas Moura gives top four verdict

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Tuesday, April 19.

Tottenham back in Rudiger race

With Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger seeing his contract expire at the end of the campaign, the question remains over where he could potentially find himself next season. Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been mentioned in the past, whilst Tottenham did initially emerge as contenders.

It appeared as though Antonio Conte was set to be frustrated in his attempts to forge a reunion but that might not be the case for much longer. According to Football Insider, Spurs are back in the race for the German defender, with Conte having made it clear he wants to take the defender to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Moura backs Spurs for Champions League

One aspect that could potentially boost Spurs’ hopes of securing the services of Rudiger is the ability to play Champions League football. Winger Lucas Moura is remaining positive on the north London club’s chances of returning to Europe’s top table next term.

Speaking to The Athletic after the weekend reverse at the hands of Brighton, he said: “The top four is still possible and it is our objective. We can’t lose our minds now, we can’t lose our head, because we played really well the last few games.

“We look at the table but we knew the fight would be until the end. We need to fight, we need to work hard for the next game.”

Jenas sends Conte message

Jermain Jenas has said that Tottenham will be able to challenge for the Premier League title should Conte stay with the club. The Italian has enjoyed a great impact at the club since he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo.

Speaking live on BT Sport, Jenas said: "If they give him what they want, they’ll have the ability to challenge for a league, whether that’s next year or the year after.”
