Tottenham news: Antonio Conte issues Rodrigo Bentancur injury update amid RB Leipzig interest

Here is your Tottenham morning digest on Saturday, February 26.

Spurs ‘interested’ in Angelino

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig left-back Angelino this summer.

However, according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Spurs will face competition for his signature from north London rivals Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona.

Angelino has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent full-backs since joining Leipzig from Manchester City in the January transfer window of 2020.

He initially joined on loan but signed a permanent deal with the German club last summer.

The 25-year-old has been one Leipzig’s best performers over the last two years, scoring 10 goals and notching 24 assists in 84 appearances.

However, with his contract at the Red Bull Arena expiring next summer a number of Europe’s leading clubs are keen on acquiring services.

Conte's Inter admissions offer hope

Antonio Conte made some admissions after Inter Milan's exit from the Champions League which may provide Tottenham fans with some hope after their recent hardship.

Conte has won league titles with Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan and his success with the latter was just last season, before he made the move to N17 in November.

Although Inter topped the table in Serie A, they were knocked out of the European competition after finishing bottom of their group.

Now the 52-year-old has made the move back to the capital but is so far struggling to find the same success with his new side.

Conte provides Bentancur update

Antonio Conte has confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur will miss Saturday's trip to Leeds United after sustaining an ankle injury in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

Partnering Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the midfield two at Turf Moor, the Uruguayan went to ground inside the first ten minutes after slipping on the wet surface.

Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill had sent the Spurs man the wrong way with a sharp turn and it culminated in Bentancur slipping awkwardly and almost doing the splits.

Managing to carry on until half-time, Conte replaced his player at the break with Harry Winks the man to come on in his place.
