Tottenham Hotspur have made Sporting CP an opening transfer offer for Pedro Porro if recent reports are to be believed.
football.london understands that Spurs boss Antonio Conte has two priorities this month; to sign a new attacking player and a right wing-back, with Porro one player of interest to the north London club. Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Lillywhites have made Sporting an opening bid for the Spaniard, which includes cash plus one player
However, the Portuguese club are said to have rejected this proposal, instead demanding the player's entire €45million (£39 million) release clause. Porro, 23, has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting young wingbacks in recent times, registering one goal and five assists from 13 league outings this season.

These numbers are no fluke either, with his underlying data equally as impressive. In fact, Porro has averaged 0.36 xAG (expected assisted goals) and 3.66 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes in the Primeira Liga this term, according to fbref. Still, there has been some talk that the talented defender may not possess the physical attributes to thrive as a wingback in Conte's setup, as per football.london's chief Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold.
Speaking about Porro on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, he said: "The only thing I would say, I have heard a couple of murmurs that there’s some doubt over whether, physically, he fits the mould of a Conte wing-back. I think he’s 5ft 7in; I don’t think he’s a big guy, and obviously, you look at the kind of players Conte normally plays in the wing-back roles and they are quite big, tough players.
"Perisic is a good example of one he’s used in the past." It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs will be able to wrap up a deal for the Spanish international in the winter window but it is clear that the Lillywhites are in need of reinforcements this month following their 2-0 loss to Arsenal in Sunday's North London Derby.
Next up for Conte's side is a trip to the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night when they take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, who they did the double over last season.
