Tottenham's young striker Dane Scarlett will remain on loan at Portsmouth for the remainder of the season, football.london understands.
The 18-year-old has struggled for starts in the past month and there were suggestions that he could be brought back to Spurs in order to be sent to another club on loan for more game time. However, football.london understands that Tottenham decided not to recall Scarlett during the one-week window they had to do so this month.
New Portsmouth boss John Mousinho handed the teenager his first minutes under him on Saturday with a start and 86 minutes of action on the left of a front three in the 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United in League One.

Scarlett was flagged as offside in a marginal decision which chalked off what would have been a levelling Peterborough own goal from Nathan Thompson.
"I got an explanation from the fourth official and I understand the fact they don’t have the benefit of replays," said Mousinho. "He’s given it for offside against Dane Scarlett and having watched it back, it looks like it was a very tight call.
"You’re probably not going to be able to say whether it definitely was or wasn’t, although the fact that the assistant hasn’t put his flag up tells me everything that I need to know. My message to the boys when I thought we’d scored was that there was plenty of time left in the game.
"I just felt like the momentum was in our favour and we did get the goal eventually to ensure it was an interesting finish, but unfortunately it was too little, too late."
Spurs and Scarlett will be hoping that the teenager gets plenty of minutes in the second half of the season as they look to continue the development of a player that Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho have both labelled as an incredible young talent.
