Tottenham interested in Leandro Trossard after Marcus Edwards enquiry as Lucas Moura decision made

Tottenham are interested in Brighton’s Leandro Trossard, with the club in the market for a new attacker during the January transfer window ahead of Lucas Moura’s expected departure.

The option to extend Lucas’ contract by a further year elapsed on December 31 without being triggered, so his deal will expire at the end of the season when he will be available on a Bosman transfer.

Lucas has struggled with a tendon injury this term, leaving him unable to train consistently, and he is now able to speak to clubs about a free transfer in the summer or could even leave this month.

The 30-year-old played regularly after joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018 and scored an iconic hat-trick in their Champions League semi-final win over Ajax the following year.

But he has been forced down the pecking order by the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski last January and compatriot Richarlison over the summer, and has not started in the Premier League this season.

Trossard, who has 18 months remaining on his contract at Brighton, has emerged as a target in January, while the club last month enquired about their former academy player Marcus Edwards, now at Sporting Lisbon.

However, initial contact has not been followed up upon and the 24-year-old winger is expected to decide his future in the summer.
