Tottenham hopeful of agreeing Richarlison fee within 24 hours to beat Everton deadline

Tottenham are hopeful of agreeing a fee with Everton for Richarlison within the next 24 hours in order to beat the financial fair play deadline, football.london understands.

The two clubs have been locked in talks over the structure of a deal for the 25-year-old Brazil international and while nothing has been agreed with either Everton or the player yet, there is a hope that Spurs and the Toffees will come to an agreement on the fee for the winger before the end of Thursday due to the financial fair play deadline.

Everton are facing financial fair play issues and the current time period for that ends on June 30 but football.london understands that if the two clubs can come to an agreement over the fee for Richarlison before the end of that day and provide evidence of that agreement then the remainder of the transfer can completed within the days after that agreement and still count towards the last year of the financial fair play.

Although terms have not yet been finalised with Richarlison there are not expected to be any issues with that once a fee is agreed and the transfer is expected to move quickly from that point onward. The Brazilian is currently on his holidays after completing his recent international duty with his country and would have to return to the UK to undergo a medical, if it was not undertaken abroad.

football.london reported on Wednesday morning that talks between the two clubs had been progressing positively and there was a growing belief within Spurs that the 25-year-old will be linking up with Conte's squad for pre-season in the weeks ahead. Richarlison netted 10 goals and laid on five assists in 30 Premier League matches for struggling Everton last season as he helped them avoid relegation.

Spurs had made the Brazil international one of their key targets this summer with his ability to hit the ground running in the league and also play anywhere across the front line, giving Conte more options and support for Harry Kane in the striker role when required. Richarlison filled in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in leading the line for Everton last season and kept his place up front at times after the England international returned.

The Brazilian's arrival would allow Conte to be more confident about his striker options, although Spurs will continue to monitor any opportunities that arrive with other forwards in the market. As with Richarlison, the Tottenham head coach has made it clear to the club that he wants any new signings to be ready for the rigours of the Premier League and require less of an adaptation period in order for the club to compete in all competitions this season.

That approach worked perfectly in January with Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski both making an instant splash at Spurs and in the English top flight.
