Tottenham hit with huge Richarlison injury blow as Thomas Frank issues triple update

Injured: Richarlison - (REUTERS)

Tottenham striker Richarlison has been ruled out for seven weeks in another huge injury blow to Thomas Frank’s squad.

It is another huge injury to a key first-team star for Spurs, after Mohammed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur were both ruled out until April.

Richarlison pulled up during the recent defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup, and is now not expected to return until the middle of March.

"Richy unfortunately got a hamstring injury that will keep him out for up to seven weeks,” the Spurs boss confirmed on Thursday.

Richarlison’s injury comes as Dominic Solanke returns to the first-team squad for the first time since August, having come off the bench in the FA Cup tie at the weekend.

Solanke is not yet considered ready to start games, after so long on the sidelines, so Randal Kolo Muani will likely lead the line against West Ham on Saturday.

In better injury news, Lucas Bergvall has avoided serious injury and is in contention to face West Ham on Saturday, along with the returning Destiny Udogie.

Frank added: “Lucas could be available, hopefully available for Saturday.

“Both Destiny and Dom are close to finishing a good week of training, so they are a bit closer. Both will be involved and available, but they are closer to playing even more minutes, so that’s positive. They look good, both of them.”

Yves Bissouma, who has not played a single minute for Spurs under Frank, has returned from the Africa Cup of Nations and is “available.”
