Clement Lenglet looks as though he could become Tottenham's fifth signing of the summer. Antonio Conte has already welcomed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison to N17 and Spurs are still on the lookout to continue strengthening the Italian's squad.
The Lilywhites have already made one defensive signing, but the French international could become the second. Lenglet made 20 La Liga and four Champions League appearances for Barcelona last season, playing as both a centre-back and left-back.
This makes the 27-year-old a perfect fit to slot in on the left side of Conte's back three, providing more squad depth and competition for Ben Davies. Lenglet hasn't been top of Tottenham's wishlist the whole window, with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol seemingly ahead.

However, he does have a lot of attributes that could make him a strong addition to the 52-year-old's side. On Wednesday, football.london reported that a move was not understood to be close to completion yet.
Tottenham jet off to South Korea on Saturday, to begin their pre-season matches, with the first being against Team K League. Therefore getting a couple more signings through the door before the trip, will only be a boost to Conte, his squad and the incoming player.
Spurs may get just that as on Thursday afternoon, Barcelona's sporting director Jordi Cruyff said: "Lenglet's departure is about to become official." Cruyff went on to explain the Frenchman's departure in more detail.
"What we are doing is reinforcing the squad. People always think of a starting eleven, but this has changed and we have to give the coach as many weapons as possible to use in the battle," he explained, with Samuel Umtiti another player who is set to leave Barcelona this summer.
"We have to have a wide and high-level squad. We don't have to think about a starting eleven, it's the squad that has to compete".
The defender was a target of Tottenham's last summer, but Lenglet didn't want to leave the Spanish side at the time. Now though it looks like a loan move for the 2022/23 season is set to be completed.
In recent weeks it has been revealed that the 27-year-old is one of a number of Barcelona players that Xavi doesn't see in his plans, paving the way for a move to N17. There is likely to still be some discussions to be had, in order to finalise the deal, but it does mean that Spurs may not be too far away from their fifth signing, adding to the already successful summer window they have had so far.
