Tottenham given green light to sign Pedro Porro in the January window

Tottenham should not hesitate to meet Sporting Lisbon’s £40million release clause for right wing-back Pedro Porro.

That is the opinion of Spurs fans who took part in Football.London's Rank Your Targets poll.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye on the flank for the Portuguese giants with 11 assists and three goals from 24 appearances this season.

Reportedly, Spurs’ top transfer target in the January window, he is also the first choice among supporters, gaining almost twice as many votes as nearest challenger, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister.

A second raid on the Primeira Liga side is not as high on the agenda, however, with Spurs academy graduate Marcus Edwards coming in fourth on the list of fans’ transfer priorities.

The acquisition of Edwards was seen as less important than a centre-back, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie only just behind Mac Allister in terms of priorities.

However, it seems Tottenham have gone cold on the Ecuador international in recent days, with Everton and Newcastle now said to be leading the chase.

Franck Kessie has been spoken of as a ‘favourite’ midfield target of Antonio Conte but the Barcelona midfielder is not as well thought of by the Spurs faithful, ranking fifth on their list of transfer priorities.

And a move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who has long been linked with a switch to north London, would be even less popular. The USA international, who given Juve’s financial worries would be available for a January move, finished rock-bottom of our six-player poll.

Rank Your Targets results

  1. Pedro Porro
  2. Alexis Mac Allister
  3. Piero Hincapie
  4. Marcus Edwards
  5. Franck Kessie
  6. Weston McKennie
