Troy Parrott has the green light from Tottenham to play again but this weekend’s FA Cup action for Preston North End may come too soon.
The Republic of Ireland striker has been sidelined since suffering a freak hamstring injury in October, while celebrating his winning goal against Norwich City.
Championship side Preston were always confident that the Dubliner - who is on a season-long loan - would be back in action this month and Parrott has been training.
But his parent club Tottenham ultimately had the final say on when he would be available for matches again.
In a timely boost, Preston boss Ryan Lowe confirmed today that the Premier League outfit have now given Parrott the all clear after the 20-year-old returned to London for assessments.
And Lowe also confirmed that fellow Irish international Robbie Brady is nearing his return having sat out since shipping a calf injury in November’s friendly with Norway.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash at home to Huddersfield, Lowe said today: “Troy has trained well the last four days.
“He has been given the all clear by Tottenham. Saturday might come too soon for him and Robbie, who is back on the grass, but we have to be cautious with them.”
If the FA Cup game does come too soon for the Ireland duo, they could return in the Championship clash at home to Norwich City on Saturday week.
