David Raya has proven exactly why Chelsea want to sign him in the summer following his impressive performance against Tottenham. The 27-year-old goalkeeper played a pivotal role in Brentford's 3-1 win over Tottenham to keep the club's dreams of European qualification alive.
In the dying embers of the clash, Raya made a superb double save to deny Richarlison. The Spurs striker leaped above his marker at the back post and arrowed a header goal-bound but the Spaniard reacted fantastically to palm the ball onto the post.
The north Londoners quickly recycled possession and created another guilt-edged opportunity which, again, fell to Richarlison. But, Raya denied the Brazil international for the second time and tipped his effort over and out for a corner.

The Brentford shot-stopper has caught the eye of numerous top clubs around Europe this season, including Chelsea, but there have still been questions marks over his ability. However, Raya proved once and for all that he is a valiant option between the sticks with a pair of excellent saves.
With the Blues in the market for new goalkeeper, Thomas Frank has already admitted that Raya could leave for at least £40m this summer. The Brentford boss said: "There is no doubt David is a case where there is one year left and we will see what will happen.
"We are very happy with David here, everybody knows he is a £40million-plus goalkeeper if anyone is interested. There is a possibility he will maybe leave this summer for the right price. If that happens we need to be prepared like we are at left-back, right-back, striker."
In February, Raya told The Athletic that he had turned his nose up at two new contract extensions from the Bees, claiming that he wants to play in Europe. The Chelsea target said: "I want to focus on playing games and not think too much about my future.
"I have a contract here, so I'm willing to finish that, but you never know what's going to happen in the summer. Maybe the club wants to sell, maybe not. Maybe I want to stay.
"I want to focus on football and see what happens. The club will decide the price and if a club wants to pay money, that will be it. I'm not worried about that. I'm not in charge of that.
"I want to play in Europe and I want to fight to win a title," he added. "I want to fight to win a European title. I trust myself to be able to play in those types of games."
Unfortunately for Chelsea, a Champions League qualification place is mathematically impossible now this season. So, Todd Boehly will be hoping he – or Mauricio Pochettino, potentially – can tempt him with the Blues lofty ambitions.
