Tottenham fans were left satisfied with business the club conducted in the January transfer window, and feel their new acquisitions have given them a realistic chance of finishing in the top four.
Spurs raided Juventus on deadline day to sign Rodrigo Bentacur for £21.5 million and Dejan Kulusevski on an 18 month loan deal.
The Lilywhites also allowed a plethora of squad players to leave on loan including the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil. Whilst Dele Alli joined Everton on a permanent transfer.
In total eight players left the club last month, which will allow Spurs to save money on wages, not to mention the amount recouped from transfers/loan fees.
With no European football Spurs could afford to let some of their fringe players get first team football elsewhere, however they still have plenty to play for with fourth spot up for grabs as well as the FA Cup.
With so much on the line heading into the business end of the campaign we asked for your views regarding the January transfer window.
We received thousands of responses in our recent football.london survey, and the mood amongst the Spurs faithful is generally good.
We asked supporters to rate the club’s transfer window on a scale of one to five, and 48% of fans gave the club a three and 33% felt that their business merited a four.
12% felt a two was fair and 4% gave the club a perfect score.
The next question focused on the club’s two new signings and which one Spurs fans were most looking forward to seeing in action, however in a rather diplomatic response 53% said they were looking forward to seeing both equally.
However, Kulusevski got the majority of the vote with 31% saying they were more excited by his acquisition as opposed to Bentancur who only garnered 15%.
A whopping 71% were happy with the club’s decision to let eight squad players leave last month, whilst 18% were unsure and 10% felt Spurs got it wrong.
There was a mixed response regarding whether Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici had done enough to help Conte push for fourth spot, 39% were unsure, but 36% felt the Italian hadn’t been given the tools to secure Champions League football.
Whereas 24% were happy that Conte had been supported sufficiently to maintain a top four challenge.
The majority of fans felt that the club would finish in the top six with 54% confident that Conte would deliver Europa/Conference League football as a minimum.
However, 35% said that they can achieve their first top four finish since the 2018/19 season.
Rather less optimistically 7% felt that a top eight finish was all they were capable of and 2% said a top 10 finish was on the cards.
