Tottenham eye long-term Arsenal transfer target as wonderkid told to sign for Gunners or Man Utd

Arsenal are pushing for Champions League qualification this season. But concerns around squad depth has seen optimism of finishing in the top four take a knock.

Kieran Tierney has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, whilst Thomas Partey has suffered a thigh injury that could set him back at least a few weeks. Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is still out injured and isn't expected to return until at least mid-April.

Regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, however, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen in the summer, primarily in the central forward and midfield areas. With that in mind, football.london has rounded-up some of the latest transfer rumours surrounding the club.

James Maddison

As per The Sun, both Tottenham and Arsenal are long-term admirers of the playmaker, who is enjoying the best goalscoring season of his Leicester career with 13 strikes.

Nicolas Pepe

As per Sports Mole, Arsenal are reportedly willing to entertain offers of £25m for attacker Pepe this summer. That would mean a significant loss on their £72m loss after they signed the Ivory Coast international from Lille in 2019.

Marco Asensio

Asensio is already speaking with his former Real Madrid teammate Theo Hernandez over a summer transfer to AC Milan, despite also receiving a rich proposal to join Arsenal. That’s according to TuttoMercatoWEB, via HITC, who report the Gunners are one of several clubs to make the Spaniard an offer.

Alvaro Morata

Arsenal have been dealt a blow to their hopes of signing Morata this summer, with the Spaniard thought to be more interested in staying with Juventus. The Gunners were strongly linked with a move for the on-loan Atletico Madrid man throughout the January transfer window. However, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, it is suggested that he has made it known to his agent that he wants to stay in Turin.

Danilo Oliveira

According to Palmeiras star, Dudu, teammate Oliveira is a ‘complete player’ who ‘needs to play’ for a club like Arsenal or Manchester United: “For me, he’s a crack who needs to play in the Premier League,” he told ESPN, via teamtalk. “He’s a boy who gives his life, who plays, defends.

“I always tell him: ‘You have to play at Manchester United, at Arsenal. It’s at those clubs. But you have to be calm, you have to have your head in place’.”
