Tottenham duo Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks poised to complete loan exits

Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks are each poised to seal their exits from Tottenham.

Both players are surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte at Spurs, transfer-listed and sent to train away from the first-team squad earlier this summer along with Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, who have since been loaned to Napoli and Villarreal respectively.

Standard Sport understands that Spanish left-back Reguilon is now set to join Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal that does not include the option for a permanent transfer.

The former Real Madrid defender will return to LaLiga as Diego Simeone's swift replacement for Brazil international Renan Lodi, who has agreed to join Nottingham Forest on loan and watched Sunday's 2-0 Premier League defeat by Spurs from the stands at the City Ground.

Meanwhile, Winks is poised to head to Serie A and join Sampdoria on loan. Interest from the Italian club first emerged last week, though it was initially understood that he would prefer to remain in England amid admiring glances from Southampton and Forest.

However, the 26-year-old has now been convinced to head to Italy, with his imminent switch confirmed by Sampdoria director Carlo Osti after Sunday’s shock 4-0 drubbing by Salernitana.

“We have reached an agreement to sign Harry Winks from Tottenham. We’re going to sign the contracts soon,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

Whether the respective exits of Reguilon and Winks leads to more incoming business at Spurs before Thursday’s transfer deadline remains to be seen, with Bryan Gil also expected to join Valencia on loan before the window closes.

Ambitious Tottenham have made eight signings so far this summer and Conte said last week that he expected any further outgoings to be replaced.

“For sure if there are players that go out, then we need players to come in,” he said. “The club know very well the importance for me to have a squad with a couple of players in every role.

“For sure we want to make happy every single player but at the same time we have to make the right evaluation for our club, for our team so we’ll see what happens.”
