Tottenham defender Clement Lenglet may have explained what Harry Kane would bring to Man United

Tottenham centre-back Clement Lenglet has detailed what Harry Kane is like in the Tottenham dressing room.

The England captain is Erik ten Hag’s top summer target at Manchester United, with questions over his future intensifying after his club’s 6-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. Kane is approaching the final 12 months of his contract and could seek an exit at the end of the season if a renewal isn't agreed.

The 29-year-old is his club and country’s all-time top scorer but is yet to lift a piece of silverware in his career. Many are viewing this summer as the final crossroads for a transfer from his boyhood club given his age.

United are eager to bring in a clinical finisher ahead of next season and Kane is chasing Alan Shearer’s 260-goal Premier League record, currently 53 away from the total. It’s thought a move away would likely be to a Premier League rival.

Barcelona loanee Lenglet has provided an insight of what it is like to share a pitch with Kane. The defender waxed lyrical about the attributes of his game, qualities that Ten Hag is no-doubt searching for in his hunt for a striker.

Lenglet told talkSPORT: “Harry is a top player, one of the best in the world, scoring lots of goals and he helps us on the pitch. It is great to share a dressing room with him.”

Kane is set to face United on Thursday when the Reds travel south. Ryan Mason will be taking charge of Spurs for the first time since his replacement of Cristian Stellini, who was dismissed on Monday.

Mason took charge of seven matches upon Jose Mourinho’s sacking in 2021, including the 1-0 League Cup final defeat to Manchester City. That was one of three finals Kane has lost at Spurs and his most recent club final.
