Tottenham: Conor Gallagher shirt number confirmed after £35m January transfer

New man: Conor Gallagher - (Tottenham Hotspur)

Tottenham have announced Conor Gallagher’s shirt number after completing a £34.7million deal for the Atletico Madrid midfielder.

Gallagher will wear the No22 shirt for Spurs for the remainder of the season and supporters are expected to get a first glimpse of their new signing as early as this weekend.

This particular shirt number had been available just a matter of days, with Brennan Johnson vacating it earlier in January when joining Crystal Palace.

Other notable former wearers of the shirt include Robbie Keane, Nacer Chadli, Vedran Corluka and Tom Huddlestone.

Gallagher wore No4 throughout his time at Atletico, though that shirt number is in use at Spurs with Kevin Danso wearing it upon his arrival in north London last January.

The 25-year-old has also worn No23 for Chelsea and Crystal Palace in addition to No18, No33 and No11 during loan spells with West Brom, Swansea and Charlton respectively.

Those options are currently taken by Pedro Porro, Yang Min-hyeok, Ben Davies and Mathys Tel respectively, meaning the Gallagher has had to settle for No22.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been signed and registered in time to make his Spurs debut in Saturday's London derby at home to Premier League strugglers West Ham.
