Tottenham 'close in on' Luis Diaz transfer as Brighton make Tariq Lamptey decision

Tottenham fans received disappointing news this morning when it emerged that Barcelona had swooped in to sign Adama Traore to put the brakes on a potential move to Spurs.

The lightning quick winger has been linked with Spurs throughout the month, with many sources claiming that a deal was close to being done.

However, the 26-year-old now looks set to return to his hometown club on loan, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

It'll be a disappointing blow for manager Antonio Conte, who has been openly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity so far this month, stating his intentions of wanting to strengthen his squad.

With Traore now seemingly going elsewhere, one player who Spurs could look to is Brighton wing-back Tariq Lamptey.

The 21-year-old has had a fantastic season so far for Graham Potter's side, putting in a number of high-quality performances.

The Daily Mail report that whilst Tottenham hold an interest Brighton would be highly unlikely to let their star player move this month.

Spurs would likely have to offer a large sum to bring him to the club.

In more positive news, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has stated that Spurs may not be far away from agreeing a fee with Porto for Luis Diaz.

Another player who has taken a huge leap in the last year, Diaz has scored 16 goals and added six assists in 28 games.

Reports had suggested that the player had been in talks with a move to Liverpool this summer but Spurs could jump the queue with a late bid this month.

Finally, midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could be set to leave the club with French journalist Julian Maynard reporting that Valencia are offering to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been rumoured as a destination for him, after previously impressing in Ligue 1 with Lyon.

Spurs had hoped to bring in Gini Wijnaldum from PSG, but the French side are said to be unwilling to let him leave.
