Tottenham have appointed Gretar Steinsson as the club's new performance director.
The 40-year-old joins manager director Fabio Paratici's new recruitment team, which also includes Andy Scoulding as assistant performance director.
Paratici last season evaluated the recruitment setup, and saw both technical performance director Steve Hitchen and head of recruitment Brian Carey leave after years of service.
Steinsson joins from the Icelandic Football Association, where he had been working as technical advisor. He has previous experience in the Premier League, playing for Bolton, and held similiar backroom positions at Fleetwood and later Everton.
Tottenham have been busy strengthening Antonio Conte's squad for next season, with Richarlison signed from Everton in a £60million deal.
The Brazilian forward follows goalkeeper Fraser Forster, veteran Croatia international Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma into the north London club.
Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet and Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence remain key targets as Conte looks to complete the bulk of their club’s summer business next week.
