Matt Doherty has left Tottenham after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract on transfer deadline day.
Spurs are set to announce the signing of Pedro Porro from Sporting CP and the Irish defender has left to join Atletico Madrid after earlier reports of a loan deal to make way for the £39million signing.
But a late confirmation from the club announced an end to Doherty’s career in north London.
A statement read: “We should like to thank Matt for his service and wish him well for the future.”

The 31-year-old was under contract to the end of the season with Tottenham holding a 12-month extension option.
After joining for £20m in 2020, Doherty played 71 times for Spurs and scored three goals - playing his final game for the club on the weekend in the FA Cup win at Preston.
He will be presented as an Atletico player in a press conference at 12.30pm GMT on Wednesday.
Djed Spence also left the club on deadline day, in a loan switch to Ligue 1 side Rennes.
