Tottenham and Liverpool fans say the same thing as major Luis Diaz transfer decision emerges

Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Porto attacker Luis Diaz despite strong interest from Tottenham.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds have made an offer 'close to £50million' to Porto for the Colombia international. Liverpool never planned to make a move this month, but with Spurs holding talks earlier in the week, the Merseyside club saw their hand forced somewhat.

As well as this, the report claims that Diaz prefers a move to Liverpool rather than Tottenham - something that has left Spurs supporters furious.

When reacting on social media, Liverpool and Tottenham fans, understandably, had very different feelings on the matter.

If the news is indeed true, then it will frustrate Antonio Conte, who has made no secret about his desire to bring in fresh faces to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month.

Speaking earlier in January, Conte said: "I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players.

"In January, it is not easy but at the same time, we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it's not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.

"Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to improve the squad because the squad is not so big."

Spurs also look set to miss out on Adama Traore, who is said to be closing in on a return to Barcelona, despite the Spaniard holding advanced talks with Tottenham this month.
