A Tory councillor struck off the teaching register for offensive comments about Nicola Sturgeon has landed a top education job at one of the country's largest local authorities.
Kathleen Leslie was today appointed convener of the education standards committee on Fife Council, which examines the performance of 18 secondary schools and more than 100 primary schools across the county.
The Scottish Conservatives member won eight votes from her fellow committee members to land the job - one more than her SNP opponent.
