Tornado Watch Issued For Southern And Central Arkansas

A new tornado watch has been issued for much of southern and central Arkansas, including Little Rock, until midnight CT, according to the National Hurricane Center. This watch comes as the tornado threat for Arkansas is expected to increase this evening due to the movement of Tropical Storm Beryl.

Tropical systems like Beryl often bring with them the potential for tornadoes, particularly in the outer bands of the storm. Today, Beryl has already spawned numerous tornadoes across eastern Texas and western Louisiana, causing damage in towns like Jasper and Timpson, Texas.

As Beryl continues to move northward, the threat of tornadoes remains high in these areas, prompting officials to issue a tornado watch for much of southern and central Arkansas. Residents are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.

It is crucial for residents in the affected areas to have a plan in place in case of severe weather, including knowing where to seek shelter and having emergency supplies on hand. Stay tuned to local weather updates and heed any warnings or advisories issued by authorities to ensure your safety during this period of heightened tornado activity.
