Residents of Covington, Oklahoma, were urged to take immediate shelter as a tornado was reported near the area just before 8 p.m. local time. The National Weather Service in Norman issued a warning stating that the storm had been producing tornadoes intermittently for over an hour.
The warning specifically mentioned residents of Hayward and Lucien to seek shelter without delay. The threat of golf-ball sized hail was also highlighted in the warning.
