Brits have been warned of the possibility of terrifying tornadoes bringing havoc to the UK tonight.
Much of the country has been swathed in beautiful sunshine today as temperatures matched the hottest of the year so far at 32.2C.
However conditions are expected to cool this week to come into line with usual for this time of the year.
And tonight millions of people in Wales and England have been warned of the possibility of tornadoes touching down near their homes.
The warning, published by The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation, reads: “A cold front will move eastwards this afternoon with strong shear and instability ahead of it.
"Shear will be sufficient for clusters of thunderstorms and perhaps supercells capable of large hail, damaging winds and perhaps a couple of tornadoes.
“Storms may well merge into a line, given shear vectors parallel to the cold front, but some more discrete developing is possible on the southern end of the line and also along a pre-frontal trough - especially across parts of Lincolnshire and eastern parts of North East England.
“There is still some uncertainty over the overall morphology and tornado risk, especially as cloud bases are relatively high.
“However the overall situation appears to be one which warrants a tornado risk over a severe thunderstorm risk.”
The storms could create a “couple of tornadoes”, as well as hair gusts of up to 60mph and CG lightning.
According to the Met Office, around 30 tornadoes are reported in the UK every year.
Typically, a tornado is 20 to 100 metres wide at the surface and lasts for a few minutes and travels around a mile.
The largest, mainly found in north America and Bangladesh, can be more than two miles wide and move over 60 miles with wind speeds of more than 300mph.
Meanwhile conditions are expected to cool next week with fresher air expected, particularly in the South East.
Ms Bokota said: "That really humid air is likely to feel a lot more comfortable than it has done for the last couple of weeks.
"Tomorrow will be fresher with some sunshine and showers like we have seen today."
Next month Brits could be left sweltering in extreme temperatures with five more heatwaves to come.
Experts say they can’t rule out a repeat of the crazy 40C record-breaking temperatures we endured last year.
