The Government has been blasted for a plan to strip controls over City bosses' pay while at the same time saying wages in the public sector need to be kept in check due to rising inflation.
The Cabinet Office minister is said to have written to the Chancellor wanting "deregulatory measures to reduce the overall burden on business" in a bid to attract more companies to the UK in the aftermath of Brexit.
This would involve removing restrictions on director and non-executive director remuneration, according to a leaked copy of the letter seen by the i newspaper.
