Air fryers are an ingenious piece of kitchen equipment and have become so popular that most people now have them in their homes. The versatile appliance can be used to create many different meals, snacks or sweet treats from scratch but one food expert claims they’re also a handy tool for reheating food too.
Chief Knowledge Officer and Editor at Honest Food Talks, Ruiz Asri said: “Air fryers are versatile appliances that can be used for reheating a variety of foods. They work by circulating hot air around the food, resulting in a crispy texture and even heating.”
His food suggestions range from fried dishes like chicken to casseroles, and even baked goods like pastries.

The best way to reheat fried chicken in the air fryer, according to Ruiz, is to set the air fryer 175°C and cook for 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. For fries and other fried food, he suggests using the same temperature but only cook them for around 3-5 minutes.
Reheating pizza is something a lot of us do, especially when we have some of our takeaway left over from the night before, before we would use a microwave that makes crusts soggy, now we can use an air fryer. According to Ruiz, if you set your air fryer to a heat of 160°C and reheat for around 3-4 minutes but make sure to check regularly as no one likes burnt pizza.
If you’re looking to reheat any form of meat or fish, Ruiz says: “Reheat meat dishes like steak, chicken, or fish at 175°C for a few minutes, ensuring the internal temperature reaches a safe level.”
To reheat most dishes in the air fryer you’re looking at temperatures of around 150°C to 175°C and around 10 minutes cooking time maximum.
Ruiz suggested tips include: food size, overcrowding, monitoring, foil or parchment paper, resting and ensuring safety. In terms of overcrowding, he said: “Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, as it can lead to uneven heating and longer cooking times. Reheat in batches if necessary.”
